Evacuation Chair - Directions for Use • The Evacuation Chair is designed to be operated by one person. • The chair provides maximum safety with two safety belts/restraints. • It has four wheels and is easily manoeuvrable on level ground and down stairs. • Manufactured from aluminium alloy material, it is characterised by its light weight, small size, ease of carrying, safe use, and simplicity to clean/sterilise.

Extending the Head Restraint To extend the upper head restraint, pull the foam handle firmly upwards until the arms are fully extended. Once they have fully extended, two catches will prevent the head restraint from sliding back down. To lower the restraints, simply click in the same catches and slide back down.

Unfolding the Chair The Evacuation Chair comes with four wheels. The two rear wheels are smaller and arrive clipped in a central folded position. These can be easily unclipped by using your foot whilst holding the raised head restraint. This moves the rear wheels out into position causing the chair to lean back into a 45 degree angle. Once this has been accomplished, the folded seat can then be pulled downwards to a usable position, whilst the bars connected to the rear wheels slide up, locking into place by catches on the bars.

Operating the Chair down Stairs You should now have your chair on four wheels, and ready to transport your patient. Once fully strapped in place with the safety belts and restraints provided, you can start to move your patient towards the stairs. To begin your descent, slowly move towards the edge of the first stair. Push the rear wheels back up to allow the two bottom runner belts to be the chairs point of contact with the stairs. Make a visual check of this before proceeding. The runner belts will then smoothly glide down the stairs at your own pace, allowing the patient to be safely transported without being tilted forward on descent. Once on level ground (or sub-landing), you can temporarily or permanently re-engage the four wheels by reversing the procedure described above.

Attaching to the Wall Ensure the bracket is securely attached to the wall. Return the chair to the folded position. Hang the Evacuation Chair by the third bar of the rear wheels section, located at the opposite end to the wheels.
